Curious if y’all have the same deep and meaningful relationship with music that I do. When a piece of music moves me, I get goosebumps, I see visuals in my mind, I feel validated and alive. I have songs that capture different moods and enrich my experience with them. My taste is eclectic and sometimes my strong reaction takes me by surprise at random moments.
Some random bands or songs that I can’t get enough of:
Radiohead and anything Thom Yorke does on his own
Pink Floyd
Chopin nocturnes
Debussy piano works
Khruangbin
Tame Impala
Fleetwood Mac (Songbird reliably brings tears to my eyes)
Bjork
Mitski
Mozart piano concerto No 20, first movement
As a young person in the 90’s/00’s I loved house music and could dance and dance for hours, just feeling it in every cell in my body. I would feel so uplifted and refreshed after a session!
What is your relationship to music? What are your favorites?
I feel this so deeply! I couldn't live without music. Listening to music is such an emotional experience for me. It can greatly effect my mood. I like to sit in my car after a long day and just turn up the music and get lost in it. It sooths my soul. I have gone to a lot of concerts it has been some of the best experiences of my life. To have music so loud you can feel it and truly just living in the moment and not thinking about anything else but the music. It is truly the only way to shut my brain off sometimes. I have a hard time talking to people about music when they don't understand my connection to it. I am glad I am not alone in that feeling!
